Band: Strapping Young Lad
From: Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
Formed: 1994

From the 2005 Album Alien

(Fuck it!)

(There’s no external way to tell when a woman is ready to recieve)

LOVE… is a way of feeling
LOVE is a way of feeling less alone
So what’s all the fuss about?!?

LOVE: the paradox of needing

I know what I stand for; I STAND FOR ME!!!

I’ll wait for the night to come
So far, suicide at home
For I’m not the man you know
This love it’s about control

Know the chosen ones ARE HERE!

I’ll wait for the night to come
So far, suicide at home
For I’m not the man you know…

Music Video: Motionless in White “Immaculate Misconception”

What can I say about Motionless in White’s new music video “Immaculate Misconception” aside from the fact that it will raise pulses, and that hair on the back of your neck when you watch it. I didn’t think they would be able to top their latest video “Creatures” but for me this was right behind it, reaching its bloody hands out. The video is directed by Cody Snider who is the son of Twisted Sister front man Dee Snider (who also has a small role in the video)

Dee Snider should know a lot of ignorance and misjudgment from the public for his band being an “Odd Band Out” just like Motionless in White is starting to be now. They are that band that comes around every ten years to keep the world on the edge of their seats. Remember who Slipknot was taken by the general public when they first came onto the scene. Though I can’t stress how much I love MIW. I haven’t felt like this about a band since Bleeding Through’s This is Love, This is Murderous album came out. It gives you that “I could give a fuck less about what you think” attitude. That we are here to stay and you better accept that we’re here or get out of our way.

The lead singer Chris Motionless has explained that, “The original idea was a lot more disgusting and fucked up,” he continues, “but after discussing it with Cody, we found a way to take the main theme and fine-tune it so that nothing would be lost in translation. The main idea of mine was to parallel two time periods – of our band and all the open-minded people in the present day, and the period of Jesus’ life – and show how similar they are. I wanted to highlight the hypocrisy, hold a mirror up to the self-righteous, and show them how full of shit they are.”

The basis of the video has the band being scrutinized by a religious group that is shouting insults at the band and holding up religious signs; a situation which Chris said is a common occurrence, especially via the Internet. “It’s a constant stream,” he said. “At shows, the usual hater or religious figure will approach me… I’m more than willing to talk to them and discuss our feelings, but unfortunately nine times out of ten they won’t even let me get a word in, because they aren’t interested in hearing what I have to say. They only care about trying to shove what they believe down my throat.” “If what happened in the video was a real-life scenario, I would do the same thing,” he said. “It’s about time that Motionless In White and myself become the villains we are made out to be… needless to say, it felt good.”

With all the hatred that surrounds the song and the video, there is still a positive and encouraging message to it that people can find their own sense of self-worth. “We don’t discriminate against anyone, regardless of the way they look, their faith, sexuality, or race. Believe it or not, I have a tremendous amount of respect for Jesus Christ, yet despite all these very moral and positive vibes, we are still constantly ripped apart for being who we are… which sounds really similar to what happened to the man who these people criticizing us have put all their faith in.”

Cody says, “We have no intent of being blasphemous or irreverent. Someone somewhere is going to be pissed off, and those people are probably the ones Chris wants to piss off… but everyone else shouldn’t be offended.”

Chris states that he isn’t trying to say the portrayal of the protesters in the video is meant to represent his view of religion in general. “My band and myself are completely aware that not all Christians or followers of any religion are close-minded,” he explained. “I don’t want anyone watching this video to feel like they should be angry towards every person of any faith, or that we are attacking their faith directly. The song is very plainly written about the people who abuse God’s name by using it to profit or cause harm to others, emotionally or physically. More importantly, it’s a call to arms to any person in this world to come stand together and fight the ignorance that halts the progression of mankind.”

People will more than likely be offended even if they read this post or any other post that has to do with this video or band but those are the people who need to wake up. I’m a Christian that goes to church. I even work at my church, but I am not that close minded that I can’t consider to see what something could mean on the inside instead of what it just looks like on the outside. That’s why I can’t get enough of this band. They are true to themselves, their music and their fans, who I am proud to say I am.

With that here is the video.

Suicide Silence “The Black Crown” Tracklist

Lyrical Themes:
Vocalist, Mitch Lucker revealed that the controversial anti-religious lyrics that were included on Suicide Silence’s previous albums would not be included on The Black Crown. When asked by Kerrang!, Lucker revealed that the album’s lyrical themes would feature more of the personal topics that No Time to Bleed had in-concept. Lucker explained: “I’m not trying to put people’s beliefs down – it’s about me and my life. This is my head cracked open and poured on the paper! I still have the same beliefs and same views, but I’m more open to everything,” he adds. “At this point in my life, I don’t see the good in making people hate you for something you say. This record is for everybody.”

“Event Horizons” Lyrics:
I have never felt so lucid
Too simple memories
The loss so tasteless
Devoured by feelings
There’s nothing left
Only a black sea without waves
where everything is dull and bare
Soon I’ll find myself without form
Distracted by the emptiness
I’ll reach the end
Without feelings
I’ve never felt so empty
The betrayal of every single moment
Causes the disintegration of this myself
That will kill you…
As blacks holes
We absorb the time close to us
Soon, I’ll find myself without form
Distracted by the emptiness
We’ll reach the end
Without feelings
Emptiness eaters
I have never felt so empty
The betrayal of every single moment
Causes the disintegration of this myself that
That will kill you…!/NeverEndingApnea?sk=app_178091127385!/neaofficial

SOTD 5.10.11 “94 Hours – As I Lay Dying

Band: As I Lay Dying
From: San Diego, California
Formed: 2000

From the 2003 Album Frail Words Collapse

“94 Hours”
94 hours of regret for me to realize what I held
unfading beauty, not just a face
I held its innocence within my heart
Now I won’t let go
I won’t let go
I won’t let go
Now I
I won’t let go
Now I
I won’t let go
The torment of your eyes has awakened my soul.
The torment of your eyes has awakened my soul.
The pain of a moment’s time will forever beg your forgiveness
94 hours for me to realize
I held unfading beauty
I held your innocence

Premiere of first single “Moonlight Equilibrium” & pre-order packages now live

Detroit deathsters The Black Dahlia Murder are pleased to unleash details of the group’s 5th full-length album, Ritual (out June 21st 2011), a collection of 12 tracks that see the band staying true to their sound and style while progressing in both writing and musicianship. Guitarist Ryan Knight has delivered truly searing leads that will, without a doubt, daze and lay waste the ears of both loyal Black Dahlia diehards and burgeoning fans alike. Music for Ritual was recorded in early 2011 in Detroit, MI with Mark Lewis (Deicide, Unearth) and the band producing. Vocals and mixing took place at the Orlando-based studio, Audio Hammer, with Jason Suecof (The Black Dahlia Murder, Beneath the Massacre, Job for a Cowboy, All That Remains). The first single off Ritual, Moonlight Equilibrium, is now live at the following location along with several pre-order options:

Guitarist and founding member Brian Eschbach comments on the first single, Moonlight Equilibrium: “We’ve been working on this album for a good while and we are very excited to finally share a preview with our fans! Moonlight Equilibrium is full of maximum overdrive melody and crushing beats that’ll hopefully leave you maniacs thirsting for more. We’ll be jamming this and other tasty treats for the next several months on the road. See you soon!”

Vocalist Trevor Strnad comments on the extraordinary artwork: “The visual aspects of Ritual have been brilliantly brought to life by the amazingly talented Valnoir Mortsonge (Watain/Morbid Angel/Ulver) for Metastazis in Paris, France. Valnoir was the perfect man for the job; he exceeded our expectations on all fronts and delivered a beautiful package that enriches the macabre ceremonial vibe of our musical creations. The goal was to make the artwork look like a Necronomicon or an evil spell book. The imagery on the front depicts the dualistic nature of the satanic ritual… the two halves that make it possible. On the bottom, inverted, are the senders of the ritual here on earth, in prayer. On top is Satan and his council, receiving the communicative ritual.”

In terms of the direction of Ritual, vocalist Trevor Strnad notes this: “This is the first time we have fully realized a concept for an album. We wanted to choose something that would exemplify the very essence of the band… something that would be ‘more TBDM’ than anything we have released to this point. All of the lyrics to Ritual are bound by a common thread of black magic and the occult, the worship of darkness, and the preservation of inner strength and will.”

“When we play a show, it’s like a ritual… a group catharsis. We are unified with our fans through the platform of live performance. There is a real magic there. Like the album cover represents, there are two halves required; us and you. Yes, we are an evil band. Yes we sing about Satan. But really, how I see it, our evil is for your own good! The character Satan in our music represents the freedom to think for yourself… the strength to see through the facades of the norm that is presented to us at birth, and the courage to live your own way, free of the burden of guilt and shame. That’s how it’s always been for us and this record is no different.”

Strnad continues in saying: “I think Ritual is us fully realizing our responsibility to our fans to be the best (and most horrific) The Black Dahlia Murder we can while we’re here. In a way, you could say we have come to terms, more now so than ever, with how religious the fans are about this band… hence the album’s name. This is absolutely our best record and the new benchmark that we are soon to be measured by… I have no problem saying that. There has been no prouder moment for me in this band than the Ritual we offer before you. We worked harder on this and for longer than we ever have on any release until this point. Our blood is in the ink of this album, our souls in every note. That being said, if you were to steal this record, it would literally break my fat fucking heart. I know that times are tough, hell, it’s legitimately getting harder and harder to physically get these albums into your hands. I fully realize that. Every metal band (and fan) has fallen victim to these hard times. We are here to help get the music to you, no matter where you are or how scarce extreme metal may be there. It’s time to stand up and circumvent the obstacles that threaten to befall metal… just because these assholes have made it harder to find doesn’t mean we should just pull the plug, puss out and stop supporting it. Just because we can’t walk down the street to Super Megastore anymore and buy a Cannibal Corpse CD we’ve turned to stealing it all from the internet. Weak! One of the awesome powers of the internet is that it can allow these kick ass preorder packages to be available to the fans. That’s why we went to such extreme lengths to bring such a lush packaging to the masses… one last attempt at trying to lure you to go against the grain and actually invest your hard-earned money in the CD. If you really want to have an impact on the fate of this band, that is the truest and clearest way that I can tell you how to do so. We need your support. It’s not for our pocketbooks, it’s so we can exist in this cut-throat music business. I’m not encouraging you to just buy this album, either. This is bigger than that. I am encouraging you to support all metal bands that you like and buy their albums… we need you now more than ever.”

Ritual will be hitting streets in North American on June 21 with the band headlining one of the summer’s heaviest tours, The Summer Slaughter Tour, with label-mates Whitechapel and Six Feet Under in addition to Darkest Hour, Dying Fetus, and more.

SOTD 4.28.11 “Walking with Strangers” – The Birthday Massacre

Band: The Birthday Massacre
From: Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Formed: 1999

From the 2007 Album Walking with Strangers

“Walking with Strangers”
Look around for a means
To dissuade her attention
Can’t remember the places
And names that she mentions

My words are falling apart in spite of me
I’m stepping out of the light
So she can’t see
Don’t think I’ll miss her
But I want to take her picture
When I found a place
Where she can’t find me

And she’s falling asleep
As she’s walking with strangers
Talking cheap
As the flies on the wall entertain her

Her world is falling apart in front of me
She’s stepping into the light
But she can’t see
It’s hard to miss her
When she’s posing for a picture
But I found a place
Where she can’t find me

My words are falling apart in spite of me
I’m stepping out of the light
So she can’t see
Don’t think I’ll miss her
But I want to take her picture
When I found a place
Where she can’t find me

SOTD 4.27.11 “Kiss Me Slowly” – Parachute

Band: Parachute
From: Charlottesville, Virginia
Formed: 2008

From the 2011 Album The Way It Was

“Kiss Me Slowly”
Stay with me, baby say with me.
Tonight, only me alone.
Walk with me.
Come and walk with me.
To the edge of all we’ve ever known.
I can see you there with the city lights.
Forteenth flown pale blue eyes.
I can bring you near.
Two shadows standing by the bedroom
door you know I could not want you more then
I did right there. As our heads leaned in.
I’m not sure what this going to be.
But with my eyes closed all I see
is the sky line through the window.
The moon above you and the streets below.
Hold my breath as you’re moving in.
Taste your lips and feel your skin.
When the time comes baby
Don’t run just kiss me slowly.

Stay with me, baby say with me.
Tonight, only me alone.
She shows everything she used
to know. Picture frame
and country roads.
When days were long.
The world was small.
She stood by has it fell apart.
Seperate rooms and broken hearts.
But I wont be the one to let you go.
I’m not sure what this going to be.
But with my eyes closed all I see
is the sky line through the window.

The moon above you and the streets below.
Hold my breath as you’re moving in.
Taste your lips and feel your skin.
When the time comes baby
Don’t run just kiss me slowly.

Don’t run away
And it’s hard to love again.
When only you’re spendin’
When the only love you knew
Just walked away.

It gets something that’s just one.
Darling you don’t have to run.
You don’t have to go.

Just Stay with me, baby say with me.
I’m not sure what this going to be.
But with my eyes closed all I see
is the sky line through the window.
The moon above you and the streets below.
Hold my breath as you’re moving in.
Taste your lips and feel your skin.
When the time comes baby
Don’t run just kiss me slowly.

I’m not sure what this going to be.
But in this moment all I know
is the sky line through the window.
The moon above you and the streets below.
Hold my breath as you’re moving in.
Taste your lips and feel your skin.
When the time comes baby
Don’t run just kiss me slowly.
