F*#K YEAH: Killswitch Engage Welcomes Back Former Singer Jesse Leach

DO YOU SEE THIS PICTURE RIGHT ABOVE? This is the official 2012 Killswitch Engage with former and newly appointed singer Jesse Leach.

I don’t know about you, but I am pumped for the new album that they are working on and the tour that will follow. I’m excited mostly because Jeese left the band before I was able to see them live when he was still around but second chances sometimes do happen. Don’t get me wrong, I loved Howard as their singer and he will be missed as their frontman but something about Jesse being back brings a wave of fresh air back to a band thats been pretty much dormant for almost two years.

Last time Jesse played with KsE 3/19/10

The band explained that Leach auditioned for the role he once called his own and blew everyone away. “After much deliberation and careful consideration, we are pleased to announce that Jesse Leach has rejoined Killswitch Engage,” the gents said, in an official statement. “Our job was to find the best person to fill Howard’s shoes: a decision based on talent and not familiarity.

“Truth be told, Jesse blew us away in auditions. The room seemed charged with electricity. He commanded both new and old material, and proved, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that he wanted to do this. The choice became very clear and apparent.”

Jonny Craig Using Heroin

If you haven’t seen the pictures yet, Jonny Craig is shown very clearly, holding a spoon and really there’s only thing you do with a focused look on your face and holding a spoon with a lighter.

The next picture that was posted on Monday is Jonny holding a needle, making sure there isn’t any bubbles. At least he’s a careful junkie. I don’t know if he’s skinny normally, but this picture he’s looking really thin, like Trainspotter skinny.

Killswitch Engage and Singer Howard Jones Part Ways

Today January 4th, 2012, Howard Jones and Killswitch Engage have parted ways. I feeling like I am delivering a eulogy. That’s how I feel considering I’ve been listening to KsE for about 10 years, and them being one of the bands that heavily influenced me in getting into metal. It’s a sad day for fans that love this band and that have been keeping this music alive.

The announcement was given through their Facebook and official website. In the statement, the band does not disclose the reason for this decision. The January 4, 2012 Facebook status read on:

“To our family, friends and fans: We have decided to continue on without Howard Jones as the singer of Killswitch Engage. We love Howard and are thankful for the nine years that we’ve had him in the band. Out of respect for everyone involved we will not be discussing the specific reasons behind this decision. Howard is a part of our family and always will be, and we wish him well. He has left big shoes to fill, so we certainly have our work cut out for us to find the next singer of Killswitch, something we plan on making priority #1 going forward. Most importantly, thanks to all of you for all the support throughout the years and for sticking by us for all this time. We really do appreciate it and we very much look forward to having a new record for all of you in the not too distant future that we can all be proud of. Sincerely, Adam, Joel, Mike & Justin.”

Soon after the announcement, rumors circulated about All That Remains frontman, Phil Labonte would be taking over for the departed Jones. Phil quickly shot down the rumors on Facebook.

Asking Alexandria to support Guns N’ Roses

The poster speaks for itself, but Sumerian Records will present the opening band for the Guns N’ Roses New York show at the Izod Center. The band will be Asking Alexandria, who isnt much of a surprise, pushing themselves up towards being the biggest breakout bands of 2011. Doors will open at 7 pm just like the big poster says. This is a once and a lifetime opprtunity so don’t miss it.

New Images From Rob Zombie’s Film “Lords of Salem”

Production is well underway on Rob Zombie’s latest film, The Lords of Salem
The pics first appeared on the Zombie’s official Facebook, the two images have no explanation, but we’re teased “all will be revealed soon.” You can view both images after the jump.

The Lords of Salem follows a local DJ who plays a cursed record and unwittingly unleashes a coven of 300-year old witches who were secretly imprisoned and tortured during the Salem Witch Trials. It will be in theaters sometime in 2012.

Zombie is doing his best to keep details scarce right now, but rest assured will fill you in with updates as they surface.

Here is the new working poster for The Lords of Salem:

END OF AN ERA: Original Chimaira Guitarist’s Leaving at the End of 2011

In a statement from vocalist Mark Hunter, he gives some details on the guitarists departure.

“I would like to start off by thanking our fans for a great tour. This last run was a blast, and truly the most fun we’ve had in a long while. The energy from the audience was exactly what we needed, and a welcoming return. Thank you guys!

Unfortunately, as much fun as we were having, behind the scenes we were aware of some unfortunate realities that prevented us from “living the dream” and having the time of our lives. We had another bomb to drop on the fans.

Early in July we were informed that Rob Arnold and Matt DeVries would be leaving Chimaira at the end of 2011. Of course this was a huge blow, but there were no hard feelings. We understand that life invades art, everything runs its course, and we have to take different paths.

We respect their decision and wish them only the best. We made heavy metal history together and that is all that matters at the end of the day.

Chimaira Christmas 12 will be their last show, and we’ve been preparing to make it one that you’ll never forget.

I would personally like to thank Rob and Matt for all of their hard work, years of service to Chimaira, amazing songs, and for their friendship. Together we built something special that will remain for generations to come. I’m looking forward to spending another 5 weeks on the road with two of the best (and criminally underrated) guitarists in modern metal.

What’s next for Chimaira in 2012? More on that very soon.

Rather than try and make light of unpleasant news, or downplay this by hyping up a new line-up, let’s take a few to honor Rob and Matt.

My favorite solo of Rob’s is on The Heart Of It All and my favorite riff of Matt’s is The Dehumanizing Process. I’ll be cranking those today. What about you?

See you in Detroit.”

– Mark

Matt & Rob at their best!
