Immolation – Providence EP Free Download

Yonkers Death Metal band Immolation have released a free download EP through Scion A/V. This is a little late but thats just how word gets around sometimes. (Thank You Metal Injection Podcast)

You can’t argue with free stuff, especially music and with how everything that happened with Megaupload, you just have to take every legit free release that is put out. Plus even though its free, doesn’t mean it’s shit either. Providence is an awesome release. If this is your first time listening to Immolation, it will definitly make you want to go back and listen to their older releases.

Killswitch Engage and Singer Howard Jones Part Ways

Today January 4th, 2012, Howard Jones and Killswitch Engage have parted ways. I feeling like I am delivering a eulogy. That’s how I feel considering I’ve been listening to KsE for about 10 years, and them being one of the bands that heavily influenced me in getting into metal. It’s a sad day for fans that love this band and that have been keeping this music alive.

The announcement was given through their Facebook and official website. In the statement, the band does not disclose the reason for this decision. The January 4, 2012 Facebook status read on:

“To our family, friends and fans: We have decided to continue on without Howard Jones as the singer of Killswitch Engage. We love Howard and are thankful for the nine years that we’ve had him in the band. Out of respect for everyone involved we will not be discussing the specific reasons behind this decision. Howard is a part of our family and always will be, and we wish him well. He has left big shoes to fill, so we certainly have our work cut out for us to find the next singer of Killswitch, something we plan on making priority #1 going forward. Most importantly, thanks to all of you for all the support throughout the years and for sticking by us for all this time. We really do appreciate it and we very much look forward to having a new record for all of you in the not too distant future that we can all be proud of. Sincerely, Adam, Joel, Mike & Justin.”

Soon after the announcement, rumors circulated about All That Remains frontman, Phil Labonte would be taking over for the departed Jones. Phil quickly shot down the rumors on Facebook.

Breakdown of Sanity Release New Single “Chapters” for Free Download

Switzerland thrashers Breakdown of Sanity have released their new single “Chapters” for free download on their facebook.

Chapters just kills everything and anything that gets in its way. BoS are currently in the studio recording their follow-up to 2011s diamond in the rough Mirrors. If their new album is anything like Chapters, we are all in for something great.

Since the track has reached its maximum downloads on their facebook, Breakdown of Sanity has given out the mediafire link for the song that you can find at the bottom. So Merry Christmas and Thank You Breakdown of Sanity!

Enjoy! I know I have at least 8 times already.

Squid the Whale

This past Sunday I had the opportunity to see a great show in Cleveland, OH at “Now That’s Class”. The headlining band was an extremely talented group of guys from Michigan. Their name was Squid the Whale. The band made their presence known the second they stepped on the stage, which was a refreshing change from the previous acts because they all seemed to blur together for me. Despite the size of the stage, Squid the Whale had no trouble moving around like a bunch of guys that were having a blast. That passion and excitement was then  emulated by the audience.

Unlike most shows, Squid the Whale’s sound was amazingly clear and could easily be understood and enjoyed. Frontman, Brad Walden’s voice sounded incredible. Bassist, Dan Mataczynski had as much energy as a hardcore punk rocker, which is a terrible comparison… oh well. Guitarist, Brandon Kubiac was an artist, concentrating on hitting all of the right notes (he nailed every single one, by the way). Drummer, Jonathan Wagoner shot out incredible beats throughout the show and flaunted bloody hands to show how hard he worked.

After the show, my friends and I got to hangout with the guys. They’re very fun people to be with and if you ever have the chance, I’d strongly recommend striking up a conversation with them!

Squid the Whale’s new EP, “New War.” is out now. Go listen to it on Spotify and buy it! Below are some links to help you better understand and help out Squid the Whale.

New Images From Rob Zombie’s Film “Lords of Salem”

Production is well underway on Rob Zombie’s latest film, The Lords of Salem
The pics first appeared on the Zombie’s official Facebook, the two images have no explanation, but we’re teased “all will be revealed soon.” You can view both images after the jump.

The Lords of Salem follows a local DJ who plays a cursed record and unwittingly unleashes a coven of 300-year old witches who were secretly imprisoned and tortured during the Salem Witch Trials. It will be in theaters sometime in 2012.

Zombie is doing his best to keep details scarce right now, but rest assured will fill you in with updates as they surface.

Here is the new working poster for The Lords of Salem:
